This plant grows in abundance in this area.  You will find it where the ground is disturbed meaning where the ground has been turned over.  It is very easy to find as it can stand up to 6 feet high and the top of the plant resembles an eaten cob of corn.  The leaves are large, soft and fuzzy.

Mullein is great for respiratory issues:  dry or wet productive coughs, colds, asthma.  the leaves can be used as a poultice for bone or joint pain. Anti-inflammatory, antibacterial.  The entire plant can be used for herbal preparations - leaves, roots and flowers.  It can be used as a tea, poultice, or oil preparation.
